Cleaning is one of the most important daily chores each of us has to handle, there is no denying it. However, there is also no denying that it’s one of the most boring, tedious and time-consuming activities ever taken upon by mankind which is why many people are asking if there is a way to make it faster. When you’re in the field, you have a whole different perspective on cleaning. I don’t see it as boring or not – it’s my job, an objective I have to complete. However, with experience you are picking up habits and routines that can help you accomplish it much, much faster. Today, I am here to share a few tips with you so read carefully and you might learn a little something.

By ryan harvey under CC BY-SA 2.0

Routines

Since you’re reading this, I will assume you are looking for a shortcut – a way to speed up the process of cleaning, which means that right now you are pretty slow. That’s OK. The best way to accelerate your cleaning is to build up a few habits and start a few routines. What I mostly notice when I visit clients’ houses is that they don’t clean very often. Now, when I say “don’t clean very often” I don’t mean most of them live in crack dens where there’s trash everywhere and graffiti on the walls – no, it’s just that it would take a bit more time to get it professionally cleaned because it hasn’t been cleaned in a few days. As a professional, I have a system and know how to do it quickly, of course, but will get to that in a minute. The best way to reduce your cleaning time is to make sure you don’t have try and reduce it. It sounds a little confusing, so I will elaborate – clean every day and you will not have to waste more than a few minutes a day. That’s it – spend a few minutes every day and you won’t have to bother with systems and attempts of making yourself clean faster. The thing is that if you build up a cleaning routine, your home will always be clean and will need very little maintenance. I clean my place every day after work (even though I’ve spent all day cleaning other people’s houses) so I don’t want to hear your excuses. If you that, and clean things right after they get dirty, you will need no more than 15 minutes a day to keep your home clean (and that is your entire home, not just one room). This just means that you have to make the bed first thing in the morning, dust every other day, vacuum every other day, put things on their places right away, wash the dishes right after dinner, etc. If you do that, there will be no need to learn what I like to call “the system”.

“The system”

If you’re too lazy or don’t have the time to clean every day, then there is still hope for you. What I find wastes the most time when cleaning (besides leaving your household fall to ruin before you actually clean it) is the fact that you go around the house gathering your supplies. As a professional cleaner, it’s easy for me to carry everything I need with me at all times so I don’t have to go to the bathroom to get my window washer for the bedroom, for example. Keep things where you will need them and you will save lots of time on logistics. Make sure that you are always well-supplied because running to the store will definitely ruin your cleaning session. Other than that, you can always mark the time and see how long it takes you to clean and do everything you can to beat it – just push yourself a bit. Most people don’t focus on the task at hand. When I clean, I think only about doing it as quickly and efficiently as possible. You should, too. So there you have it – the big mystery is revealed.

If you own an office, you must be proud of it. Oh, so you are not? You ventured into this business thinking that it will take off well, and yes, it did for a while, but then it suddenly experienced a slump? And you kept on wondering what the reason was. You hired the best of staff, bought top quality equipment and technology, and framed ethical guidelines and good work practices to be followed by all. In spite of all the facilities and benefits here, your employees still feel grumpy, irritable, listless, and lack focus. They just don’t feel at ease working in your office.

If you identify with the above situation, assess the level of cleanliness in your office. Unclean, unkempt offices are a big turn off despite the best material amenities present.

Importance of Office Cleaning

Trash Disposal – Unclean offices jeopardize the health of employees. Trash that is not discarded into the garbage bin and lies scattered around the office, whether in the pantry, on the desk, washroom, or cabins, accumulates a lot of dust and even critters. Many sensitive individuals react strongly to dust; they start sneezing, panting, and producing other allergic reactions.

Pantry Hygiene – Hygiene must be strongly maintained in the pantry or canteen. Coffee cups made of paper should be preferred as they can be discarded. Reuse of cups, spoons, and other utensils leads to transmission of disease-causing germs causing illnesses in many employees. Surfaces of coffee machines must be cleaned with an effective sanitizer in order to check microbial growth due to milk spillage.

Filtered Water Usage – Water should be thoroughly filtered and purified before storing into water dispensing coolers. Employees who contract infectious diseases due to water and food contamination avail of long sick leaves thus leading to reduced work hours. This could have a huge impact on the business.

Toilet Hygiene – Toilets must be cleaned on a daily basis using an alcohol-based sanitizer. Good quality toilet cleaners must be used. Hiring professional office cleaning services regularly like once a month is a good option for the health of office staff rather than relying on just one housekeeping person. The quality of cleanliness that professional housekeeping staff renders is matchless.

Sick Employee Policy – Employees who are seriously ill with a communicable disease must not come to office until they are completely free from the disease. Such individuals can pass off their infection to healthy employees. It is advisable to let them work from home if that is feasible for their role and acceptable to their seniors.

Eating Guidelines – Strict guidelines on eating breakfast and lunch must be imposed. Employees must not be allowed to eat or drink in the work area in order to avoid spillage or dropping of fluids and food particles on computers, laptops, carpets, or desks. Employees failing to abide by these laws should be strictly penalized.

Indoor Plants – Keep some indoor plants in your office in order to increase oxygen levels which usually dip where too many people are exhaling carbon dioxide. Oxygen-rich air is clean, pure, and energizing.

Technology Damage – In unclean offices, where there is water spillage on technological equipment, there are greater chances of electronic malfunction and accidents. Electric shocks to employees, PCs not working, and other glitches slow down the pace of working in an office. The result is reduced productivity.

Optimum Level of Work – In order to bring the best out of every employee, it is very important to pay attention to their health. Unhealthy employees are not motivated enough to work. They lack the enthusiasm and energy to work and pay attention to tiny details. In roles that demand a high level of attention to details, an unhealthy atmosphere may breed lack of concentration in the employees leading to high error rate.

Noise Cleanliness – This refers to filtering or blocking out loud or irritating noises in the background so that they don’t affect the employees’ work. Compartmentalization of departments is an effective way to minimize noise pollution which deteriorates work quality. Healthy mingling among co-workers is conducive to work quality and productivity. Employees, who gel well or share interesting titbits with each other, increase knowledge and add cheer to the work atmosphere. After all, a healthy employee is a happy employee. And a happy employee is a productive employee.

Security – Office cleanliness is important and ensures a healthy working environment when the office is working. However, you also need something to watch over your office when it is kept closed for a period of time owing to certain reasons like transfer of most employees to another branch of the company or temporary shifting of workplace due to renovation. In such cases, you need a trustworthy party to keep a watch on the office that is shut down or inactive for some days or months. Moreover, you need the office in the best condition when you are back. When you hire house watching services, this problem is taken care of. They take care of your office like no other. And when you are back, there is no lag period. You can start your work from day 1 with total productivity.

No matter how much time and efforts you spent to properly clean your home there is one thing that you do not participate often. The Carpet Cleaning is something that appear to be one of the most difficult and time consuming home stuff to do. There are a lot of obstacles on the way of the clean carpet or rug.

For example it will bring a lot of mess when you have to take it out of room because you will need to move everything that is on the top of it. Every bureau, tea- table, kitchen table, commode, closet, wardrobe, dower-chest, bed, sofa, armchair, chair and so, and so must bring up and the carpet have to be pulled slowly beneath it. And all these in order you are inherently able to get it off from the floor at all because it is frequently seen situation in which the carpet is moulding fixed.

Another big problem is how you are going to dry your loved carpet. Even if are able to clean it somehow have you thought that it will stays wet days after that? And all that water will emanate a lot of damp that will remain in the room. And when the air is moist it can cause a lot of trouble with breathing and health and also it dispose of mould growth which is even worse. Have in mind that while the carpet is drying you won’t be able to use the room. Another unpleasant thing is the floor covered by something wet for a long time can undergo with some damage.

Consider all the detergents that you will need. They are specific and that makes them expensive, on one side, and unusable for cleaning other stuffs on the other. All tissues require certain maintain. Many chemicals are so strong that can damage the surface not on purpose. They are also dangerous for your health and that of your beloved child or pet.

By Ildar Sagdejev (Specious) (Own work) [GFDL or CC-BY-SA-3.0-2.5-2.0-1.0], via Wikimedia Commons

It is not impossible to do this job by yourself but counting on professionals may reduce money, time, stress and trouble. You can easy pick a company that offer this service because it is wanted and preferred by many housewives.

Cleaning your carpet will occur in a different way. First of all the cleaners are professionally trained technicians working with certain modern machines. Most of them are using the Steam Technology on the basis of which is treatment with cure water given a lot of pressure. This technique presents a lot of bright sides:
– No matter what kind of fabric is your carpet or rug it will be properly cleaned without any chance of damaging
– The specific detergents that professionals employ can not be bought from the market. They are bio- degradable, eco- friendly, non allergic causes, checked and time- tested.
– The high pressure at which the water is exposed will remove every stain and undo the original colours.
– The cloth which are exposed at high traffic or heavy furniture will return their proper places.
– After having it washed they will apply drying which is able to aboard up to 95% of the water. That means that after a couple of hours the carpet will be completely drain.

Cleaning the house is always something that creates headache especially when you’re not a born housewife with all inherited domestic skills. You can always call the cleaning company if you have extra money, but you will need quite an amount to spend as cleaning is a regular process that shall be done every week and sometimes every few days. But how to clean effectively and quickly when we need to do everything by ourselves? Here are a few tips for those who are not experienced cleaners and do not know how to clean their home without making too much mess.

Cleaning Supplies for Spring Cleaning (Photo credit: Chiot’s Run)

Before you start cleaning drink a hot chocolate or coffee, so you be able to adjust mentally. But do not take too much time as you may encounter a motivation problem. Second step – turn on your favorite radio or put a CD. When there is music, everything is easier. Chill and ambient music is very good for cleaning.

If you have carpet, it is best to first start with it. Take it out to for brushing, washing or drying. When removing the carpet, you don’t need to clean the floor- it is rather pointless. After all the cleaning you will need to go back, so don’t waste your precious time.

You have already cleaned it? Do not despair if you’ve already cleaned the floor. Here are some important steps for effective cleaning of the house. Read them and the next time there will be more fun:

Start from top to bottom. When you wipe the dust off the cabinets, particles always fall down. That is why you should always start from the top, so that you will be able to continue without worrying and wondering why it is dirty. The same goes for dirty windows.

Bring all your medicines and towels with you. Before you start make sure you predict what you need. To clean the dust prepare a bowl of water for you in order to rinse the dirty rag.

Look for the products that you use. Most people take the cheapest cleaning products without worrying about the chemicals they contain and that is not very healthy. If you have a pet or a baby, be careful with selecting preparations and where your store them.

Do not put time limit to get things done at any case. Use the whole day if you are free. When the time is not enough, the work will not be done efficiently. Send your children to the park, and if you husband prefers playing cards than cleaning send him to a friend. And if your wife prefers shopping than cleaning send her on a shopping tour with some of her friends.

If you have too many movable heavy furniture, don’t send your husband anywhere. Use him for moving the furniture. If you are alone you will quickly be exhausted when you move the heavy stuff.

It was not hard, was it? Do not take cleaning as a duty, but as an enjoyable task! Feeling good in a clean environment is always easier than in a mess. It can even turn into a fun game. Dance with a baton when cleaning and you can even sing with a vacuum cleaner in hand the song of your favorite bands. It is especially recommended if you are a fan of Queen.

Computers are inseparable part of the modern life. Maybe our parents could, but we even can not remember the time when we were not using ones. Being on a vacation, at home or at work you can not let a day pass by without checking the e-mail or paying a visit in the social network you are registered to. Surely the positive sides of the computer usage are more than the negative. But what is common for every machine is the fact that it has to be cleaned from time to time. To dissemble your computer may look a little scary but in fact it is not so difficult and everyone with basic knowledge can do it.

Before you start to clean you should know that the computer generally have three parts. These are the box or the case, the monitor and the other outer devices like the keyboard, microphone, the mouse and others like that.

You can start the job by cleaning the case. To reach the inner part of the box, you will probably have to remove the covers from the both sides. For this you will need nothing more than a screwdriver. Keep the screws in safe place because you will need them after you have done the cleaning. It is good idea to find the instructions of the manufacturer and find out what you should not do with the case of the computer. It is always safe though to use cotton rag and water with average temperature. Use special spray instead of water in case you have some at home. It is important the cloth that you will be using to leave no fibers because this can be very dangerous for the successful functioning of the computer. Also do not make the cloth too wet.

Clean both sides of the covers, as you remove every spot. Scrub gently to do that. Before you even think to put them back you have to be sure they are completely dry. You can use cotton cloth do help them get dry, but it is also good idea to leave them for some time out on the open air. In case you have more serious stains like ones from ink and other similar, contact professional to give you advise how to remove them.

Things are not that simple for the other parts from the inner side of your computer. You have to pay special attention to the fan. It usually collects most of the dust. You can clean it carefully as you use the vacuum cleaner. For the rest of the inner items use compressed air carefully. Put a special mask on your face if you are allergic to dust, because the inner part of the computer case can be full of it.

The assembling of the computer case should be done the same way as you dissembled it, you only have to roll the screwdriver the other way.

The keyboard can be cleaned as you firstly turn it upside down and shake it till tiny things stop falling from it. If you do not find this enough, you can use the vacuum cleaner with a brush at the end to clean the rest of the dirt. The mouse can be cleaned with everything. Some of the suggestions include wet cloth and wet wipe. There are special sprays for every type of monitor.

In order to prevent the computer from getting too dirty you can clean more often the area around it and keep the air in the room you are working clean. Thus it will collect less dirt and dust.

Curtains are an indispensable part of any home- both from an aesthetic and a functional point of view. They add beauty and grace to the rooms and also help keep the extreme cold or heat out, and of course, there is the added benefit of privacy that curtains allow.
Cleaning and maintaining curtains Bexley is quite a tiring and challenging task given how heavy and large drapes tend to be. You can’t quite pile them in with the rest of the laundry but then again, having them dry-cleaned every time they get dirty does not work out as a sensible solution either. In fact, people are usually prone to neglecting the drapes in their homes until they become damaged beyond repair and need to be replaced. In this article we share with you some expert advice for how to clean and maintain your curtains over the years.

A little effort daily goes a long way in keeping curtains clean. Whenever you get a few minutes free in the day, take a clean duster especially intended for fabrics and dust your curtains lightly. A feather duster or a damp cloth can also be used. This will shake loose any dirt and dust particles on the surface.

Ideally, you should vacuum your curtains whenever you can because this involves just as much effort as the previous step (probably less because the machine will be doing most of the work) and it allows for deeper cleaning. Most vacuum cleaners come with special attachments for drapes and fabrics and these will be very effective in keeping your curtains absolutely fresh.

Whether you decide to dust or use a vacuum cleaner, make sure you work from the top to the bottom, in long vertical strokes. While you clean, a lot of the dust that comes loose will fall downward. This way, even if it sticks to the lower ends of the curtain, those portions will get cleaned when you reach them.

Instead of taking your curtains off their hooks, let them hang while you clean. This allows for more flexible and easy arm movements and you won’t have to make a lot of effort bending over the fabric. Just make sure that the curtain rods are strong enough to hold up against all the movement and the suction action of the vacuum cleaner.

People often overlook the backside of the curtain and focus only on cleaning the side that is visible. In fact, most of the dirt will be on the back because this will be the side open to the windows and the door openings. You should first clean the back so that if some of the dust and grime do fly around or fall on the front side, it gets cleaned later and continues to look neat.

Much of the dirt collects in the hems of the curtains, so make sure you clean these out properly. The folds of the curtain are another vulnerable spot and require special attention.

If you are using a damp cloth to wipe down the curtains please use a vacuum cleaner or a dry duster first to get rid of as much of the dirt as you can. Wiping dust or grime on fabric with a damp cloth can be counterproductive because you might end up spreading the dirt and causing ugly blotches and stains.

Steam cleaning is a very effective way of cleaning curtains. There are a variety of handheld steam cleaners available in the markets. By purchasing one of these you can look forward to getting professional results without hiring the pros! Most curtains have a warning label describing which cleaning methods are appropriate. Please check to see if your curtains can be steam cleaned before starting the process.

Plastic plates and cups are things that every family has in its kitchen. They are very good to be used when you have small children, which can break the other stuff and get cut. They are a little unstable but still very good for the purpose.

There is another situation in which the plastic cups and plates can be very useful and this is when you are going to picnic or somewhere out on the open and it is not good to bring glass with you.

Unlikely the other sets that are made of porcelain and can be easily washed, the biggest disadvantage of the plastic things used for food is that they often get dirty from the stuff that is put inside them and the stains are not so easy to be removed. With the time this stains do not fade, just the opposite they get worse and nastier. That is why they have to be removed using special cleaning ingredients and the sooner you remove the spots the easier it will be for you.

Several methods of cleaning will be suggested in the article and everyone can pick the one that seems the most suitable. The vinegar way to clean is the most used and famous one, as many people know how useful it can be for cleaning of so many things. Except the vinegar you will also need water, soap and a bucket. You can start as you put the dirty objects in a container that can hold them all. Pour water and vinegar as you use equal parts of them both. The objects you will like to clean have to stay in this mixture. The more stubborn the stain is, the longer you should leave your dirty cups and stains in the bucket or container. An overnight should be enough even for the hardest cases. When you take the plastic things out of the water wash them with mild soap and water. Dry them and if there is nothing dirty left they are ready. Repeat the soaking in the water and vinegar when it is necessary.

The other method of cleaning includes the use of alcohol and bleach. Put the thing you are going to clean inside an empty bowl or bucket. Because alcohol and bleach can harm many surfaces, make sure that the vessel you have chosen will catch any drips falling from the plastic things you will be cleaning. Pour the alcohol directly on the dirty places and scrub the area, as you use rubber gloves, which will help you protect the skin on your hands. Let it stay like this for several minutes and take the bleach then. Put in on the dirty parts along with the alcohol and once more let it stay like this for several minutes. Then you can rinse with warm water. Make sure you have washed both alcohol and bleach very good. To be sure you have removed any residues from the last detergents you can wash the plates and cups one more time with your dishwashing cleaner or mild soap.

Believe it or not the sunshine can also be very helpful when it is combined with lemon juice. You will need one lemon fruit which should be cut in two pieces. Take one of them and rub the problematic area with it. Right after that leave the plastic item on direct sunlight. The interaction between the lemon juice and the sun has the power of bleach, with the only difference that there are no dangerous liquids and unpleasant smell.

In the first warm days of the year, many of us feel a strong desire to clear out the winter cobwebs, both figuratively and literally. Spring cleaning involves not only getting rid of dust and dirt, but ridding your home of clutter. Most of us keep our homes neat enough so that spring cleaning isn’t too tough, but if you do have a big job ahead, use the steps below as a quick guide.

In the Kitchen

Wherever there’s cooking being done, bacteria can gain a foothold. Your kitchen should be cleaned daily, but if it’s in need of an in-depth cleaning, here’s how you go about it. Begin by emptying your pantry or food storage area, throwing away expired food and sorting or donating what’s still good. Wipe your cupboards out and replace shelf paper, if applicable. Do the same for drawers, and wipe down your countertops (even behind the toaster, coffeepot and microwave).

Empty your refrigerator, getting rid of expired food. Clean its interior with soapy, warm water and allow to dry before food is replaced. Seals should be wiped as well; don’t use bleach which can weaken them. Clean the refrigerator’s coils using an attachment on your vacuum cleaner, and if you can, sweep behind the fridge as well.

Use a paste of water and baking soda to clean your stove and oven. Baking soda is mildly abrasive and is great for removing grease and grime; it can also be used in paste form to clean your sink. Vinegar is a great sanitizer, and it can be used in a variety of ways (run frozen vinegar cubes through your garbage disposal, or add a cup to clean your dishwasher).

The Bedroom

Your bedroom is where you go to relax at the end of a long day, and as such, it should be one of the first areas to receive a spring cleaning. Start with your bed, removing pillows, blankets and sheets. Wash pillows and dry on low heat, adding a tennis ball to the dryer to keep them fluffy. While the pillows are drying, wash your sheets and flip your mattress. Move the bed out from the wall, cleaning debris and wiping baseboards. Vacuum the area, and put the bed back into place.

Remove curtains, launder them, and clean windowsills with diluted bleach or a multipurpose cleaner. If you have blinds, use a vacuum attachment or a duster. Dust your furniture and ceiling fan, and then vacuum the floor. Once your curtains are dry, re-hang them.

Bathroom

Your bathroom is one of the dirtiest areas in your home, and because they’re often enclosed, bacteria find their way in. If there’s a window, open it to allow fresh air to get in, or turn on the vent fan. Remove everything from the countertops and clean with a soft cloth and a disinfectant. Wipe out the sink as well, and clean mirrors with vinegar. Scrub your bathtub and toilet with cleanser, and apply disinfectant generously to the toilet’s outside.

Now is a good time to go through your medicine cabinets and drawers, removing anything that’s unneeded or expired. Wipe them thoroughly before replacing items, and finish the room by mopping the floor with a sanitizer.

The Living Room

For most of us, the living room is the most-used areas in the entire house. As such, it’s full of furniture and electronics that need cleaning. Start by cleaning your drapes and throw rugs; dust tables and picture frames with a microfiber rag. Go through all your books, games, and DVDs, donating or putting in self storage what you don’t want. Wipe baseboards with a gentle cleaner, and use a telescoping duster to clean any ceiling fans. Vacuum around and under furniture, and return everything to its proper place.
