When it comes to experiencing the paranormal, Michigan has its fair share. It is a state filled with places where ghouls, ghosts, spirits, and apparitions have taken up permanent residence. Whether you are a believer in the paranormal, a thrill-seeking ghost hunter, or a nonbeliever, Michigan has many famous hauntings which you may want to visit in this lifetime.

The following is a list of top 5 famous haunting in Michigan:

Kalamazoo’s Henderson Castle

Today it is a bed and breakfast, but this century old castle is home to a legion of ghosts. Some of its most famous inhabitants are Mary and Frank Henderson, the home’s first owners, as well as a little girl and an American War Vet. All of them interact on a regular basis with various paranormal teams. Apparently, these spirits are amiable and enjoy interacting with the living by tapping visitors on their shoulders, speaking through the radio, and appearing in period clothing.

Saugatuck’s Felt Mansion

First erected in 1928, this mansion has worn many masks. Originally it was presented as a gift to the inventor’s wife Agnes Felt, who suddenly passed away after moving in. After the Felt’s moved away, the mansion was turned into a seminary, and later a drug enforcement office. The mansion is currently being restored to its former use. Even though this home is quiet, many have witnessed the figure of a woman waltzing around in the ballroom or the closing and opening heavy doors (on their own). Some guests have also been reprimanded by an ethereal figure for being too crude or offensive.

The River Raisin National Battlefield Park

Some of the bloodiest battles of the war of 1812 were fought in Michigan. After fighting for several days and surrendering to the British, many Americans were taken away and later massacred by local Native Americans in surprise attacks. Many paranormal teams have conducted investigations at this site using music, time-oriented objects, and triggers to encourage the appearance of these spirits. Experiences such as figures in windows and doorways and cries have been recorded.

Pere Cheney

This was a small, bustling 19th century town located near the town of Grayling. Once a busy sawmill village, after it was ravaged by cholera and diphtheria, the population was decimated. After the Post Office closed in 1912, the town was abandoned. According to legend, the town’s cemetery holds the bones of a witch. Many visitors have witnessed strange orbs floating in the area. Many passersby, have reported small hand prints on their Reports of car owners finding prints of small hands on the sides of cars, perhaps of dead children is also common.

Mackinac Island

This is a dream destination for paranormal investigators. Many ghostly apparitions and paranormal phenomena have been reported here. It has a bloody history and given its isolated location, it is no wonder this island has a spooky reputation.
