These are 2 Korean Zen Buddhist centers. They have really great meditation rooms and you will be put at ease instantly thanks to the friendly monks on site. At Chogye, the hours where you can go start at 5 AM and you will actually be taught how to meditate for free. There is a beginner’s class that you can be a part of on Tuesdays. Open meditation is available on Thursdays.
Integral Yoga Institute
Those that are beginners can choose out of various different meditation styles when going to this yoga center. Two times per month there is a certified yoga instructor that will teach you special techniques like sitting alternatives and insomniac meditation, through a workshop. You will need to pay 22 to 30 dollars per class if you want to be a part of the experience but there is also free open meditation that you can be a part of 6 days every week.
Greenhouse Holistic
If you are independent and you are looking for a different meditation experience, the Open Meditation Circle at Greenhouse Holistic is something that you may want to try. It takes place on the first and third Sunday, every single month, at 8:15 PM. You do not have to pay to participate in anything here but it is customary to give a donation of around 5 dollars.
Tibet House
With a suggested donation of around ten dollars, the Tibetan cultural center can introduce you to various different practices. The Tibet House is particularly appealing for the solitary practitioner but the social ones will also feel great. You can be a part of a 2 hours guided meditation session every Tuesday at around 7 PM. If you need individual preparation, make sure that you will show up earlier.
Zen Center Of New York City
