Are You Motivated?

Motivation is what drives us forward and enables us to keep working at something until we achieve success, irrespective of what that particular objective is. It makes us persistent and that’s more often than not, the main difference between success and failure.

It is, however, no easy task to remain motivated in everything that you do, especially after failing a few times. Nevertheless, some of the most successful people in the world managed to stay motivated in what they did and in turn, inspired the same motivation and insistence in others around them.

To know how some of us
manage to do that almost every day of the year, go through the following three
points.

Control What You Do

“Everything that you
do” doesn’t necessarily have to include everything that you can do, but should
consist primarily of things that you want to do. If you are passionate about
most of the things in your life, you will always be more motivated by default.

Choose a field of work that appeals to you and your chances of being successful in that job will inevitably go up. Wait until you find a partner who genuinely interests you or has qualities that ignites passion in you and you will always make that extra bit of effort to make the relationship work, even when things get a bit sour.

The bottom line is
that in order to stay motivated, don’t just do things for the sake of doing them.
Instead, channel your limited time and energy into things or people that you
are genuinely interested in or care about.

Change Your Approach

On going through some
of the most inspirational quotes about
self-improvement by famous and successful people, you will notice that most of them hint
towards introducing changes in your life and that’s the key to staying
motivated as well.

Sometimes, when life
shoves you down a road that was never yours to take and you cannot do anything
about it at that moment, what you need to do is change your perception and
approach towards it.

For example, if you
are doing a job at this time that you don’t like, but quitting isn’t an option
either due to financial burdens, you should be looking at your present job as a
stepping stone towards the job that you want to do.

Stay at that place as
long as you need to, save money and then when you are financially and mentally
ready for the shift to something better, take that plunge.

Even if you are
already doing what you always wanted to do, it can get monotonous or may come
to a standstill at times and that’s precisely when you should introduce a
change. Join a new job at a different company, change your business ideas up a
bit and experiment or start exploring new avenues in your field of work.

As stated by the
famous author and filmmaker T.D. Jakes,
“If you always do what you’ve always
done, you’ll always be where you’ve always been.”

Smaller Achievements and the Big
Picture

Visualizing your end
goals and how you will feel once you get there is a great way to start and stay
motivated, but sometimes, the long-term goals begin to seem just too far away,
especially during the most trying of times.

This is where you need
to break your path to the final goal down into multiple smaller objectives and
keep yourself motivated with the immediate goals.

You can even make it a
ritual to do something rewarding each time you manage to successfully complete
one of those many smaller objectives because it will provide you with the
additional incentive to chase after the next immediate goal.

Nothing motivates and
brings in success better than confidence and those little wins will each
contribute towards turning you into a more confident person every time.

While the exact
details may differ from situation to situation, these three tips to stay
motivated hold true in almost all circumstances of life.

Control, change and
confidence are perhaps the three most important aspects of what we just
discussed and now that you know what to do, take the all-important first step
and start applying that knowledge.

Getting motivation for studying is not as easy as many believe. In fact, it is a huge daily struggle for so many. There are different things that have to be considered by modern students, ranging from classes to managing extracurricular activities. Some even need to work. As you get overwhelmed by day-to-day activities, it is no surprise that you just do not have motivation for studying.

Fortunately, there are always things that can be done if you need motivation and you want to improve your study habits. I put together a list that you can always get back to. Feel free to add comments if you found something that works for you so you can help other students.

Always Set Goals

One of the easiest ways to become motivated is to set goals. You need both short-term loans and long-term loans. Going through a lot of study material is not easy but when you know why you do it, everything becomes simpler.

The only problem with setting goals is that sometimes students do not set realistic goals. Also, those chosen might not be challenging. The idea is to set goals that are challenging and realistic.

Further Reading: Effective Goal Setting For Students

Extra Thing To Consider: Post goals somewhere you are going to see them every single day. This helps stay mindful. The common approach is to use sticky notes and put them somewhere on your desk but you can even use smartphone alarms if this works for you.

Always Create Schedules

Try to set a specific time when each week or day you study. This is a wonderful way to stop procrastination. As you set time you make sure that there is enough to finish assignments and get ready for exams. At the same time, studying becomes a part of your weekly or daily routine, a normal part.

Build A Perfect Studying Space

What you surround yourself with can influence your mental state. This is why you need to make sure your desk is organized. All that is needed for what you do has to be placed within reach. If you do this you will make studying easier. Make sure you eliminate clutter daily and get ready before you start studying.

Start Studying

The truth is that the big part of most things you do in life is starting. You might hate history, chemistry, doing the dishes or even walking the dog but once you start, it is so much easier. One of your goals should be to study for 15 minutes without taking a break. Then, you can see how you feel after the set time is up. There is a pretty good possibility you will be able to study for longer because it is not that bad once you actually start doing it.

Music

A really common way to become motivated as you go to the gym is to put on a playlist of music that is capable of motivating you. The exact same thing goes for studying. There are surely some songs that you listen to and they pump you up. Play them before the study session. Some people like to listen to ACDC while others would do better with classical music. Find what works for you and just play the tracks.

Get Silly – The Self-Pep-Talk

Giving yourself a pep-talk to study definitely sounds silly. After all, won’t you feel silly when you do this? At first you will but the fact that you look in the mirror and you talk to you can help you to be more motivated to do tasks you set in the past. You can start your pep-talk with saying what the goals are for the current study session. Then, add the long term goals you have. Since it is a pep-talk, why not mention some great things about you or your life, like that new shirt you like or how good you are at swimming? You will get a great confidence boost when you receive compliments and they can actually come from you, in the mirror.

Time For Rewards

Every single time a study goal is achieved or a breakthrough happens, it is time to reward yourself. Something as simple as a doughnut can help so much more than what you initially think. The truth is that it is quite depressing to work very hard and then feel you are not appreciated. The one person that should appreciate you the most is you so start by you rewarding you. Go out to dinner, watch a movie or do anything you really like as a reward for your study goals.

Final Thoughts

Motivation for studying is not easy for most students but it is also not that difficult if you just work hard and you keep your eyes on the prize. The little tricks above are sure to help you much more than you now think. Give them a go and you will be surprised of the results!

With the growing financial climate deepening in the United Kingdom, companies have to work as hard as ever in order to promote employee motivation as well as company loyalty. Yet there are ways in which you can develop your employees in the workplace. In spite of the growing competition for work not to mention jobs, below are just some the key elements you can incorporate to encourage employee growth.

Employee Growth tips

Invest in training

Now this might not be cheap but the results could be incredible and result in increased levels of turnover for your business. There are many challenges that companies are facing in today’s society. Yet if you decided to inject capital into a well thought out programme the effects could be;

Improved learning throughout the process which could be valuable afterwards.

Effective leadership skills which can be transferred to prospective trainees.

Carefully planned yet positive effects on the actual job or role.

Assessment and learning

By incorporating key learning skills as well as different types of learning styles this may prove effective in your employees taking leadership of their own processes and duties. In addition to this, there are a number of different organisations who work in close tandem with their employees to create a type of learning or personal goal contract. The main benefits from this include;

On-going development whilst building key relationships with key personnel

Confidence in delivering the tasks not to mention reaching essential objectives or goals.

By U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District under CC BY 2.0

Coaching

If employees have dedicated coaching or a mentor by their side this can again improve the development and boost morale. In this way this element is considered to be one of the most important areas as far as employee growth is concerned. When an employee is assigned a mentor they will have the ability to gain vital advice and in turn produce much more quality in their work. This is usually done via assessments and feedback which the employer can compose but helps them to improve their skills whilst finding out about both their strengths and weaknesses.

Job enrichment

To take advantage of an even greater level of responsibility or authority you can have the opportunity to undertake several management training courses. This will develop your growth in a potential workplace and give you even better chances to succeed. There are a wide variety of courses that you can enrol including the likes of corporate training which will offer you;

Bespoke courses for a host of consultancy services.

Increased levels of training and development for that optimal performance in the workspace.

Promotion

Of course one of the best ways to establish employee motivation and growth is by offering roles that offer a much higher level of responsibility. This will not only help develop the skillset of an employee but will ensure trust and loyalty when it comes to retaining your workers. Again this can be achieved via several factors such as;

Providing essential support through coaching.

Offering bigger areas of responsibility including special projects which encourage new skills and developing brand new professional relationships.

Rotating roles

If you are an employer then you can always look to giving your employees new roles within the company or modify their work. This means if they work on something for a week or a month it will expose them to different types of experiences whilst learning a wealth of other skills that they may not have had previously. This particular approach will provide a great deal of diversity, an improved level of communication and interpersonal skills and give people the chance to be fast tracked at a much quickerrate within the organisation.

It doesn’t matter how badly you want to change your life; it still won’t happen over-night. Even if you set all the right goals and have strong motivation, giving up on life you are currently living can be much harder than you might think. Instead of making drastic changes try to make your life better one step at a time, that way the process of reorganization will be so much easier to grasp. And here are several tips for self-improvement that can bring positive and long-lasting changes into your everyday life:

“Early bird catches a warm”. Everyone knows this old saying that hasn’t lost its topicality to these days. If you wake up early and have substantial breakfast you will have enough energy to go through your daily tasks without feeling exhausted. If everyone else in your family are night owls – all the better! Mornings can become your personal time when you do your exercise routine or read, or just plan your day. Anyway, it’s a fact that those who wake up early tend to complete more tasks than those who leave everything till the evening. And let’s be honest, the only thing most people are capable of after exhausting working day is lying on the couch and reading book or watching TV. So if you have a long list of tasks for the day – get ready to wake up early in the morning.

Try not to procrastinate. Doing everything in time is something a lot of people are struggling with. We often tend to put off the tasks that for some reason seem to be too complicated for us. But the problem is that these tasks won’t go anywhere, and the closer the deadline is the more stress they will cause. Remember one simple fact: when you put the tasks off you put yourself into time-debt. No one likes living in debts, so try to organize yourself by making schedule and rewarding yourself for tasks completed in time. Try to use anything that can motivate you. For those who are struggling with tasks and meeting deadlines at work task management software might be a great solution. Such software helps with task and deadline tracking and automates routine working processes so you have more time for really important tasks. I’m not going to discuss all the benefits of such solutions, since there are quite a few of them, but if you want to know more browse online.

Face your fears. Everyone have phobias and fears and sometimes they can stand in a way of living the life you want to. Start challenging your fears one step at a time. At first you can try something that doesn’t necessarily scares but makes you feel uncomfortable, and in time maybe you will be able to face your real fears.

Break the routine. If you go to the same restaurants and coffee shops or stay at the same hotels try to break such patterns. Experiment, try something new, it will help you to broaden horizons and meet new people.

And, lastly, don’t forget to have fun from time to time. If you spend your days in front of the computer go out in the evenings, that way you will feel like your life is more balanced.
