There are various divination forms that you surely know about, like tarot cards, palmistry or runes. However, these are just a few of all divination forms appearing along the years. There are actually hundreds of different ways in which civilizations tried to predict the future in the past. We selected 4 that you most likely know nothing about and that you may want to learn more about.

Bibliomancy

In this case divination is done with the use of a book. Historically it was the Bible that was mostly used and the divination appeared from the belief that when you are weighing less than the Bible you are innocent. We do not really know how heavy the book was back then though.

Nowadays, we see bibliomancy practiced with practically any book and it is the content that is important. Basically, the idea is to think about a question and open the chosen book at random. In most situations you pick the very first complete sentence you see on a page and then interpret it as being the answer. In other cases people will look at the entire paragraph or even the entire page. Lateral thinking is necessary when analyzing the results.

Ceromancy

This divination form is interpreting candle wax that melted. Visual imagination is needed as random shapes and blogs appear. A candle is left burning and drips are interpreted while in other cases the candle is put at an angle over cold water so that wax droplets form more shapes. Symbolic interpretations are not necessary since something that looks like a sun can mean something completely different. The idea is to locate symbols that you can relate to and connect them with the problem or the question decided before lighting the candle.

Oinomancy

This is a favorite of many that learn about it since it is practically divination with the use of wine. You do it without an advance preparation and you interpret shapes appearing in stains after spilling a wine glass, similar to inkblots. A glass is normally poured and put right in front of the flame from a candle. You would watch shapes and reflections to then analyze it. No matter what option you choose, the spill one or the watch one, an open mind and an active visual imagination will be needed.

Nephelomancy

This is practically cloud divination. You ask a question in your mind and then you look towards the sky to analyze figures and shapes that are noticed in an attempt to find answers. It is going to take some time and in many cases you do not see anything at the first gaze. However, as time passes and you practice it is said that the shape of the clouds do not matter as an answer becomes clear just by looking at everything around it, together with other factors like sky sector, direction and movement.

What is your favorite lesser-known divination form? Just let us know below and we can share this with our readers, opening the doors to inspiration and important answers to vital questions.
