Looking after our facial skin is one of the top health and beauty priorities for many of us. We look through the shelves at various products hoping to find a newer better miracle cream that will help to make our skin glow with radiance and health.
Good moisturizers and cleansers do of course help, but one of the main ways to maintain good skin is simply through healthy living and sensible skin care. In fact, using too many creams on our faces can actually do more harm than good if we over use them.
To give you a better understanding of daily facial skin care we have put together a number of simple, easy to follow steps that will help to make your skin clear and glow with health.
1. Cleansing
Keeping your face clean is an important part of facial skin care. However, this does not mean that you need to have daily deep cleansing processes. To keep your skin clean, most dermatologists merely suggest using a light soap in the mornings and just using natural cleansers at night before you go to bed. Your skin needs to be clean but it also needs a natural balance so that it has the chance to repair itself.
2. Exercise
Regular exercise can actually help to improve your skin by improving your blood circulation. This helps to rejuvenate your skin cells as the blood feeds oxygen and nutrients to the skin. Regular exercise will also firm your muscles, which helps to make your skin look more toned.
3. Hydrate
The skin needs to be regularly hydrated from the inside. This means that we need to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Dehydration can cause dry skin, so remember to drink plenty of water during the day. When the weather is warmer, we of course, need to drink even more fluids to avoid the onset of dehydration and dry skin.
4. Sun Protection
As much as we all love the sun, overexposure can lead to dry and damaged skin. To avoid this, always wear some form of sun protection. Even if you are just going out into your garden for an hour or so it is a good idea to rub some sunblock into any exposed area of skin.
5. Nutrition
Our skin will only look healthy if we are. So, remember to eat plenty of nutrient rich food with plenty of vitamins. This is actually one of the most important things to remember about skincare. If we are healthy, we will look healthy.
6. Stress
Stress can lead to skin problems. Recent studies have shown that our sebaceous glands, which produce oil, can actually be over activated during times of stress. So, try to avoid stress, yoga or meditation being some great ways to relieve stress and relax.
7. Rest
Our bodies repair themselves when we are asleep. So it goes without saying that plenty of rest will help our skin to feel and look healthier. Try to avoid too many late nights; your skin will look much better for it.
8. Moisturizers
Using chemical free natural moisturizers can help improve our facial skin. However, make sure that you choose your moisturizer carefully as some can actually make your skin feel and look greasy. Most women now choose organic moisturizers, which are made from only natural plant extracts.
9. Make Up Kits
Keep your make up kits clean. You can easily wash out your pads and brushes, which will clear away any oils and detritus. You wouldn’t use an unwashed towel to wash your face, so remember to regularly clean your make up brushes and pads.
10. Avoid Smoking
Smoking can directly lead to poor skin health. So, if you would like glowing radiant skin, put away the cigarettes and replace them with a healthier habit like making fruit juices or walks in the country.
To get that glowing healthy skin that we all strive for can be achieved by just living healthily and thinking carefully about what products we use on our faces. If you follow these simple steps to healthier skin you be guaranteed to see very positive results in only a matter of a few short weeks.
